Get a Home Inspection
Home inspections are not appraisals, termite inspections, municipal code inspection, or a guarantee of any kind. Home inspections are professional, objective evaluations of the current condition of a home and its major systems. Inspectors will evaluate the conditions of the:
- central heating system
- central cooling system
- interior plumbing
- electrical systems
- roof
- attic
- visible insulation
- walls
- ceiling
- windows
- doors
- foundation
- basement
- other visible structures
As a buyer, you should be at the house during the inspection. Afterwards you should ask for a detailed written account of the inspector's findings. Some inspectors will even offer cost estimates on needed repairs. Ask your real estate agent to recommend several home inspectors.
